We just finished watching the movie Hector and the Search for Happiness on Netflix. It got us thinking about movies that had the theme of finding one’s self through travel such as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Under the Tuscan Sun, Eat, Pray, Love, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Not many of us have to ability to head off for an indefinite or extended vacation to India, Bali or Italy. Hollywood and Star Cinema do a good job of romanticizing these stories for entertainment. But traveling for the purpose of seeking clarity about ourselves, and maybe some resolution for the issues and the problems we find ourselves embroiled – that can be a real thing, depending on our perspective and approach.
Have you ever gone on a soul-searching trip, to find yourself? How did it go?
